(0 Ratings)Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheels provide superior engine response and acceleration for any manual transmission vehicle. Installing a lightweight flywheel will make rev-matching easier, give better throttle response and enable your vehicle to accelerate as if it has lost a few hundred pounds of weight! This is possible thanks to the reduced mass and inertia of the lightened flywheel.
Exedy’s flywheels are CNC machined from solid 1-piece billet chromoly steel forgings. Forged chromoly (chromium-molybdenum steel) is 3 times more rigid than aluminum and is superior in strength and durability to billet steel and cast iron. Each flywheel is computer balanced for high RPM reliability and heat-treated for toughness to provide a long, trouble-free life.
Most applications feature special design cues which assist in the cooling of the clutch assembly. Also, Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheels have ring gear teeth that are milled directly onto them rather than pressed-on like an aluminum flywheel. The two different expansion coefficients (aluminum flywheel pressed on steel ring gear) can possibly cause the flywheel to explode. Every Exedy flywheel is tested continuously at speeds exceeding 15,000 RPM to ensure the highest level of safety on both the racetrack and the street.
All Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheels are certified for use in SFI regulated competition (SFI Specification 1.1) and can be resurfaced just like an OEM flywheel. The flywheels range in weight from 8.9lbs to 19.6lbs. Certain applications may require use of a counterweight/adapter that must be purchased separately.
Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheels Feature:
-Solid 1-piece chromoly construction
-Improved engine response and acceleration
-Specifically designed to help cool the clutch (most applications)
-Milled ring gear teeth for strength and safety
-SFI certified for competition
-CNC machined, computer balanced, heat treated
